We're a Certified Living Wage Employer! 🙌

We are incredibly proud to announce we are now a certified Living Wage employer.<

JustIngredients is based in Wales, a region with one of the highest proportions of non-Living Wage jobs in the country (24%), with around 268,000 jobs paying less than the real Living Wage.

Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at JustIngredients receive at least the minimum hourly wage of £9.30 (for the UK); this rate is significantly higher than the government minimum for over 25s which will soon stand at £8.72.

Tess Lanning, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that JustIngredients has joined the movement of over 4,700 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on. They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as IKEA, Heathrow Airport, Barclays, Chelsea and Everton Football Clubs and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer."

What is the Real Living Wage?

In 2016 the government introduced a rise in the minimum wage for over 25s and called this new statutory minimum 'The National Living Wage' however, there is still a gap between the amount all employers have to pay by law and the real Living Wage that meets the cost of living.

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to what people need to make ends meet; it provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that choose to take a stand by ensuring their employees earn a wage that meets the costs and pressures they face in their everyday lives. That’s why thousands of UK employers have voluntarily committed to going further - because it’s fair.

Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 160,000 people and put over £800m extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

The Living Wage Foundation is the organisation at the heart of the movement of businesses, organisations and individuals who campaign for the simple idea that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.

How is the Real Living Wage Calculated?

The London and UK rates are independently calculated every year and announced during Living Wage Week.

The UK Living Wage is currently £9.00 per hour and the London Living Wage is £10.55 per hour reflecting the higher costs of transport, childcare and housing in the capital; these figures are calculated annually by the Resolution Foundation and overseen by the Living Wage Commission, based on the best available evidence on living standards in London and the UK.

As a certified Living Wage Employer, we've committed to increasing our employees pay inline with the Living Wage increase which is announced in November each year.

Who Pays the Real Living Wage?

Over a third of FTSE 100 companies are accredited Living Wage employers as well as thousands of small businesses, in fact there are over 4700 accredited Living Wage employers across the UK all paying their employees and contractors the real Living Wage! Big name companies paying the Living Wage include IKEA, Oxfam, Aviva and Nationwide.

You can find a full list of Certified Living Wage Employers here.

We believe all businesses that can, should commit to paying the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work. Find out more about the Real Living Wage here.
