Description

Product: Citric Acid

Other Names: C6H8O7, Sour Salt & Sodium Citrate.

Description: Our Citric Acid is soluble in water and alcohol and can be used in culinary and cosmetic recipes. Citric acid is used as a natural preservative, in bread making for making breads such as sour dough and as an ingredient to give food and drinks a citrusy taste.

Interesting Fact: Did you know citric acid is used in the food industry as a souring agent? Some confectionary such as Sour Apples and Sour Cherries are dusted with powdered citric acid to give them an additional sourness which makes the mouth pucker and feel dry. Citric acid is found naturally in fruits in particular citrus fruits but it can also be found in strawberries, cranberries, tomatoes, lettuce and cayenne peppers albeit in low quantities.
