Description: Our sage and onion salt contains three ingredients used by cooks around the world which can enhance the flavour of savoury dishes on their own, teamed together they add an aromatic twist to your meals. Aromatic sage, tasty onion and coarse ground sea salt combine to make the perfect seasoning for your cooking as well as a condiment for the table. This salt goes well with Mediterranean styles of cuisine and is particular tasty with pork and chicken dishes. It is used in stews and soups to give a real depth of flavour and is an essential addition to any store cupboard.
Interesting Fact: Did you know that when an onion is cut, chopped, minced etc. like it is for our sage and onion salt, the Allyl disulphide compound contained in the uncut onion is converted to allicin by enzymatic reaction? Allicin is found in garlic and has natural antibiotic properties, onions also contain antioxidant flavonoids including quercetin, vitamins C and B6 and also minerals including calcium, copper, manganese and phosphorous.
Ingredients: A blend of coarse sea salt and the finely chopped Salvia officinalis and Allium sativum.
Allergy Advice: This product contains sage which contains a naturally occurring source of salicylates and is best avoided by people eating a salicylate free diet and those people following a low sodium diet.
Sage & onion salt can be used as a condiment to season meals in place of plain salt; this aromatic blend will add delightful fragrant notes to all your meals, it works well as a seasoning for all cuisine types. Use as a delicious rub or as part of a marinade for pork, poultry, and vegetables.
