Product: Madras Curry Powder (Medium)
Description: Our delicious medium curry powder blend is choice selection of some of the finest spices ready ground and blended for your convenience that makes a superb choice for making curries where you would like to have a moderately robust flavour, with a medium heat. It is an aromatic blend of ground coriander, turmeric, fenugreek, salt, garlic, chilli, cumin, fennel, mustard and black pepper.
Interesting Fact: Did you know that the earliest known recipe for cooking meat in spicy sauce which we now refer to as curry was found written in cuneiform text on clay tablets near Babylon in Mesopotamia, and dated to circa 1700 B.C.? The word curry as it is commonly used in India simply means ‘sauce’ and as most Indian dishes are cooked in a sauce they became known as ‘curries’.
Ingredients: Coriander, Turmeric, Fenugreek, Salt, Garlic, Chilli, Cumin, Fennel, Mustard and Black Pepper.
Allergy Advice: This product contains chilli, cumin and black pepper which contain naturally occurring sources of salicylates and are best avoided by people eating a salicylate free diet.
SUGGESTED USEMake a basic curry sauce base using onions, tomatoes and water and add the curry powder when frying off the onions, don’t allow it to burn or the spices will take on a bitter flavour, when cooked add your chosen meat or vegetables. A pinch of curry powder can be added to egg and cheese dishes, sauces and salad dressings and soups, how much you use depends on how spicy you want your finished dish to be. Sprinkle a little over freshly made popcorn and potato crisps for a spicy savoury twist, why not add a little to a breadcrumb coating for chicken or fish to bring the flavours of India to the table?
Shelf life of two years provided that goods are stored in an airtight container in ambient conditions.
