Description: Our mouth-watering and tasty jerk seasoning is an authentic unique blend of herbs and spices that can be used when cooking jerk style recipes, created to bring out the flavour of meat, seafood, vegetables and tofu. Jerk cuisine comes from Jamaica and is influenced by the cuisines of many different countries including Britain, Holland, France, Spain, East India, West Africa, Portugal, and China and involves marinating the dish in the seasoning and then slow cooking to perfection either over coals or in the oven.
Interesting Fact: Did you know that pimento one of the ingredients in our tasty jerk seasoning is also known as allspice? A spice which was a favourite of 17th century English settlers who gave it the allspice, because it tasted like some of their favourite spices - cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves – all rolled in to one with a sweet peppery kick.
Ingredients: Salt, Sugar, Cayenne Pepper, Black Pepper, Bay Leaves, Pimento, Cinnamon, Oregano, Nutmeg, Acidity Regulator E330, Flavouring, Spice Extract and Anti-caking Agent E551
Allergy Advice: This product contains cayenne, cinnamon and black pepper which contain naturally occurring sources of salicylates and are best avoided by people eating a salicylate free diet.
SUGGESTED USEUse as a dry marinade or make into a paste with oil, citrus fruit juice or wine vinegar. Simple mix the jerk seasoning with some olive oil/juice/vinegar and pouring over your meat, leave it to marinate for 30-40 minutes then drain the meat and barbecuing as normal, all the delicious flavours from the seasoning will get absorbed into the meat. Virtually any kind of meat, seafood and vegetables can be cooked jerk style, add to marinades and sauces, its perfect for BBQ’s sprinkle on steak, chicken, prawns before grilling to add a hot spicy flavour.
Shelf life of two years provided that goods are stored in an airtight container in ambient conditions.
