Description: Neroli oil comes from the flowers of a spiny, tender evergreen tree, native to tropical Asia, which can now be found growing in southern Europe, the Mediterranean and some parts of the United States which can reach a height of 10 metres. The Leaves are aromatic, compound, alternate, oval and 6.5-14cm in length with small round toothed edges. Dark glossy green in colour on the upper side and paler green on the underside. The individual 5-petaled flowers are white and surround light coloured stamens and are approximately 2-3cm in diameter, they hang in small clusters in the leaf axils.

Interesting Fact: Did you know that it takes over 450kg or orange flower petals to make just over 450g of neroli oil? The flowers are generally steam distilled and the oil is then separated out from the water. The water is then sold either as culinary or cosmetic grade orange blossom or orange flower water. Culinary orange flower water is used in many middle eastern sweet and savoury recipes. The cosmetic grade water is added to skin products and perfumes for sensitive and mature skin types.

Blends With: Benzoin, Bergamot, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Coriander, Geranium, Ginger, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Lime, Orange, Palmarosa, Petitgrain, Rose, Rosemary, Sandalwood & Ylang-Ylang.

Safety Advice: This oil is non-toxic, non-sensitising and non-irritating when used in dilutions of 4%. Not suitable for human consumption.

In the food industry, Neroli oil is used to flavour soft drinks, liqueurs such as ‘Cointreau’ and confectionary. Add the oil to lotions, soaps, creams, salves and balms for all skin types; it is particularly suited to helping to reduce visible signs of stretch marks and scars. Add to spring water to make a refreshing facial spritz and tonic. The oil used in the bath or as a massage before bedtime can be relaxing. Add to oil burners, pot pourri and scented sachets to perfume a room, an ideal scent to use in the bedroom.
